Disability Determination Services

Disability Determination Services, or DDS, are state agencies working with the Social Security Administration to decide if an individual is eligible to receive Social Security Disability Benefits. Within the DDS agency, doctors and disability specialists will ask listed doctors about the individual’s conditions and visits. Medical evidence will be gathered from doctors, clinics, hospitals, or institutions that an individual listed being treated at. Questions they may ask include:

• What your medical condition is;
• When your medical condition began;
• How your medical condition limits your activities;
• What medical tests have shown and;
• What treatment you have received.

They will also ask doctors about the ability to do work related activity but will not ask if the doctor deems an individual is disabled.
