Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS, is the federal agency that administers Medicare, Medicaid, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). It is part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Serving over 160 million through these services, they work in partnership with the entire health care community to improve quality, equity, and outcomes in the health care system. Created by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965, it is currently headed by Dr. Oz.
