About Ticket to Work

If you receive SSDI or SSI and want to return to work, the Social Security Administration Ticket to Work (TTW) program could be your bridge from where you are to where you want to be. And you don’t have to cross it alone.

What is Ticket to Work?

The Ticket to Work (TTW) and Work Incentives Improvement Act was signed into law in 1999 and was born out of a fundamental truth: People with disabilities want the same opportunities as everyone else, to live independently, work with dignity, and build a life on their own terms. It was created to ensure that people with disabilities who want to work have access to the tools and support they need to succeed, without fear of losing their benefits too quickly.

Since then, the program has helped thousands of individuals move forward with dignity, safety nets in place, and real options for employment.

TTW is a free and voluntary program offered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) that helps adults receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) prepare for, find, and maintain meaningful employment. Ticket to Work helps individuals rebuild confidence, regain independence, and step into their next chapter, with support every step of the way.
